About Count Studio

Count Studio counts music for dancers, in every style, with or without a song. Kallos Labs builds it, and it comes to iPhone and iPad on November 27.

How the counts are written

Each dance is counted the way its teachers count it: salsa with its pauses, ballroom in slows and quicks, Kathak in bols with sam and khali, flamenco in its 12-count compás. Every count in the app’s library names where its convention comes from, such as the ISTD technique books, the WDSF tempo table, Bhatkhande notation or the Carnatic tala system. You can read each one, with its sources, in the count library.

The rules our blog keeps

The blog is written for dancers, teachers, cheer coaches and fitness instructors: how a dance is counted and how to drill it. Each piece lists the books, tables and teachers it leans on, and shows its pinned date and its latest revision date. Spot a wrong count? Write to us and we fix it.

Privacy

Count Studio asks for no sign-in and follows no one. Songs, count sheets, setlists and presets are files in a Count Studio folder of your own iCloud Drive (on the device when iCloud Drive is off). Mirror takes and teaching videos stay on the device unless you share or save them yourself. None of it comes to Kallos Labs. Google Analytics stays off on this website until you accept it, and the analytics button in the footer lets you change your mind. The privacy policy
